The crop is at the 'yellowing bud' stage. All flower buds are now raised above the leaves and are becoming yellow. Some individual plants are flowering, but the crop is not yet defined as being in the flowering stage, as less than 10% of plants have opened flowers. The cool, wet conditions last week have slowed down the rate of crop development. Received just over 11 mm of rain last Wednesday night. The leaves are now fully turgid, but unfortunately there is evidence of lost potential yield, with some buds aborted. The number of nodes per plant is about half of what is considered ideal, which is related to the cold and dry conditions during the vegetative stage.
